🧂 Ingredients
- 2 raw mackerel
 - 2tsp chilly powder
 - 1 tsp turmeric powder
 - Salt to taste
 - 1/2 cup Water
 - 10 fenugreek seeds
 - 1/2 mustard seeds
 - 3 tsp of oil
 - 1/8 asafoetida powder
 - Lemon juice or tamarind water
 
🔪 Preparation
Clean the Mackerel- Remove head, tail, fins, and scales.
 - Cut into small bite-sized pieces.
 
- Rub the pieces with salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder.
 - Let it rest for a few minutes.
 
🍳 Cooking Method
- Heat 3 tsp oil in a pan.
 - Add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and asafoetida.
 - Once mustard seeds splutter, add red chilli powder and sauté for a few seconds.
 - Add the marinated mackerel pieces and stir gently.
 - Pour in lemon juice or tamarind water, along with ½ cup water.
 - Simmer until the fish is fully cooked and the masala thickens.
 
🍽️ Serving Suggestions
Serve hot or cool with rice, Goan poee, or chapati.Can be stored in the fridge for 2–3 days in an airtight container.
✅ Tips
For best results, use fresh mackerel.Adjust the spice level by reducing or increasing the red chilli powder.
This is an instant pickle, not preserved long-term.
