🌿 Why Shepu?

Shepu (dill leaves) is packed with iron, magnesium, calcium, and dietary fiber. This humble green is excellent for digestion and immunity and is especially nutritious for postpartum care and growing kids.

✨ Ingredients:

  1. 1 bunch fresh Shepu (dill leaves) – washed and finely chopped
  2. 2–3 tbsp grated coconut
  3. 1 medium onion – finely chopped
  4. 2–3 cloves garlic – chopped (optional)
  5. ½ tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  6. 1–2 green chilies – slit or chopped
  7. ¼ cup soaked toor dal or moong dal (optional)
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1–2 tsp oil for cooking

🧑‍🍳 Method:

  • Prep the Greens:
  • Wash dill leaves thoroughly.
  • Chop finely and keep aside.

Tempering:
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add garlic (if using) and chopped onions. Sauté until golden brown.

Cooking:
  • Add chopped Shepu leaves, green chilies, and soaked dal.
  • Mix well, cover, and cook on low flame. Add a little water if it gets too dry.

Finishing Touch:
  • Once the leaves and dal are almost cooked, add grated coconut and salt.
  • Stir well and cook on low flame until fully done.

🍽️ Serve With:

  • Hot rice and Goan curry, or
  • As a side dish with roti or chapati.

  • Add a few drops of lemon juice at the end for a fresh tangy twist.
  • Can be packed in lunchboxes with roti for a healthy meal.
  • Skip dal if you prefer a quick dry version.
