Rava Upma (Uppit) Recipe | Quick & Healthy South Indian Breakfast
🌼 Rava Upma (Goan Style Uppit)
A simple, flavorful breakfast loved in every Goan home.
Whether it’s a comforting morning bite or a light evening snack with chai, Rava Upma is always a good idea! Known as Uppit in Konkani, this dish is quick to prepare and full of taste.
📝 Ingredients
- 1 cup Rava (semolina)
 - 1 onion, finely chopped
 - 1 tsp mustard seeds
 - 1 sprig curry leaves
 - 2 green chilies, choppedSalt to taste
 - Peanuts (optional)
 - Sugar (to taste)
 - A pinch of turmeric powder
 - 1 tsp oil or ghee
 - 2 cups hot water (approx.)
 
🍳 MethodHeat oil/ghee in a pan.
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
 - Add curry leaves, chopped onions, and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn golden.
 - Stir in salt, sugar, peanuts (if using), and turmeric powder.
 - Add the rava and roast on a low flame until it turns slightly golden and aromatic.
 - Slowly pour in hot water, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
 - Cook until all the water is absorbed and the upma reaches a soft, fluffy texture.
