📝 Ingredients
For Soya Chunk Preparation:
- 1 cup soya chunks
- Hot water (for soaking)
- Salt (to taste)
For the Curry:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (finely chopped or pureed)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
🍳 Method
Prep the Soya Chunks
- Soak soya chunks in hot water with a little salt for 10 minutes. Once soft, squeeze out excess water and keep aside.
Cook the Base Masala
- Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook until raw smell disappears.
- Add tomatoes and cook until mushy.
Add Spices
- Mix in turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until oil separates from the masala.
Add Soya Chunks
- Add the squeezed soya chunks to the masala. Mix well and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
Simmer and Finish
- Add a little water to make a semi-thick gravy. Cover and cook for 5–7 minutes on low flame.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander.
