Moogachai Kann (sweet dish)

MOOGACHAI KANN(MOOG SWEET DISH) 
Moog pulses.it is a healthy balanced diet and has an important role in preventing certain illnesses. pulses provide vitamins and minerals, the importance of Moog is provided antioxidants, rich in potassium and magnesium and fiber.
Moogachai Kann made during the festive season or during upvas. Its sweet dish made up of coconut milk, Moog and jaggery.

INGREDIENTS
  1. Moog 1 cup
  2. freshly grated coconut
  3. jaggery
  4. 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  5. salt to taste
Method

Soak the whole moong (green gram) overnight.The next day, rinse and pressure cook the moong with enough water and a little salt until soft.

Grind the grated coconut with water into a smooth, thin paste.
Heat a kadai and add the cooked moong.

Pour in the coconut paste and mix well.
Add grated jaggery according to your preferred sweetness and stir until it dissolves                completely.

Add cardamom powder and adjust the salt to taste.
Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

If the mixture becomes too thick, add a little hot water to reach your desired consistency.
Serve hot as a delicious traditional Goan sweet.

Tips:


  • Soak the whole moong overnight for faster cooking and a softer texture.
  • Do not overcook the moong; it should be soft but still hold its shape.
  • Use freshly grated coconut for the best flavor and creamy consistency.
  • Adjust the amount of jaggery according to your preferred sweetness.
  • Add cardamom powder at the end of cooking to preserve its aroma.
  • Stir frequently while simmering to prevent the coconut from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • If the dish becomes too thick, add a little hot water and simmer for a few minutes.
  • A small pinch of salt enhances the sweetness and balances the flavors.
  • This dessert tastes delicious both warm and at room temperature.
