🛒 Ingredients

  1. Fresh prawns – cleaned and deveined
  2. 2 tsp red chilli powder
  3. 2 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tsp coriander powder
  5. ½ onion (chopped)
  6. ½ tomato (chopped)
  7. 1 green chilli (slit)
  8. 2–3 tbsp grated coconut
  9. Small tamarind ball (about marble-size)
  10. 2 kokum petals (sola) – optional
  11. Salt – to taste

👩‍🍳 Method

Clean & Marinate the Prawns
Remove shells, heads, and veins from prawns.
Avoid washing prawns too much after cleaning to retain natural flavor.
Marinate with salt, 1 tsp turmeric powder, and 1 tsp red chilli powder. Keep aside.

Prepare the Masala Paste
Grind grated coconut, tamarind, coriander powder, remaining turmeric, and red chilli powder into a smooth paste. Add a little water if needed.

Cook the Gravy
Add kokum petals (if using) for added tang.
Add chopped onion, tomato, and green chilli. Let it boil for 4–5 minutes.
Heat a pan. Add the ground masala paste and let it simmer.

Add the Prawns
Now add the marinated prawns to the simmering curry.
Cook on medium flame until prawns are tender (around 5–6 minutes).

Serve
Serve hot with steamed rice or Goan boiled rice.

🌟 Tips for Perfect Prawn Curry

  • Don't overcook prawns – they turn rubbery.
  • For extra richness, fry ½ tsp coconut oil in the end and drizzle over the curry.
  • You can also add drumsticks or raw mango slices for variation.
